Susan S. LaMotte got her first W-2 at age fourteen and hasn't stopped working or thinking about the way people work ever since. She is the founder and CEO of exaqueo (ex-ack-we-o), a premier employer brand experience firm.
A pioneer in employer brand and a twenty-year human resources veteran, Susan has consulted on employer brand and talent strategy on every continent (except Antarctica). Her clients include brands such as Swedish Health, Universal Studios, Princeton University, Carnival Cruise Lines, Kempinski Hotels and T-Mobile.
Prior to founding exaqueo, she served in several HR leadership roles for The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott International including leading the Global Employer Brand team named “Best Employer Brand” by ERE and #1 in Social Recruiting Strategies by Fortune Magazine.
She’s also served in HR and consulting roles with Johns Hopkins University, and CEB (now Gartner). Susan began her career as an HR generalist and recruiter for Arthur Andersen in Washington, DC. She’s served on the Board of the Candidate Experience Awards and RecruitDC and was a founding Board member for the Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals.
She has been an advisor to numerous startups including Nomi Beauty and RemarkableHire and regularly speaks on employer brand, talent strategy and women in the workplace.
The author of two books, Susan has been featured in and written for publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, the New York Times, Fast Company, and The Washington Post.
She has an MBA in Human Resources and Marketing from Vanderbilt University where she was a Dean’s Scholar. She also has an MA in Human Resource Development from The George Washington University and a BA in Communications and Public Relations from Virginia Tech.
Known for getting more done in ten minutes than most people do all day, Susan’s work ethic is spurred by new music, café au laits and a bit of Philadelphia-born honesty. She lives with her husband and two children in Charleston, South Carolina.
